State Review Panel Appointments for Proclamation 2010

ANNOUNCEMENT
Nominations to serve on state review panels for Proclamation 2010 are now being accepted.
The Texas Education Agency is now accepting nominations for appointments to the Proclamation 2010 state review panels. These state review panel members will evaluate instructional materials submitted for adoption under Proclamation 2010. The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms is December 12, 2008.
Proclamation 2010 of the State Board of Education calls for instructional materials in the following areas:
· Spanish Literature, Grade 6
· Spanish Language Arts & Reading, Grades K-1
· English for Speakers of Other Languages I & II
· Reading, Grades 2-5
· Spanish Reading, Grades 2-5
· English Language Proficiency Standards, grades 9-12 Teacher Editions
· Reading (Elective), Grades 6-8
· AP English Language, English Literature
· Literature, Grades 6-12
· IB Language Studies, Standard & Higher Level
The materials adopted under Proclamation 2010 will be used in schools beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
The state review panel is charged with evaluating instructional materials to determine coverage of the TEKS and to identify factual errors. The panel members play a very important role in ensuring that students throughout the state of Texas have the benefit of quality instructional materials.
The TEA encourages you to nominate individuals for appointment to the state review panels by completing the application posted at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/textbooks/proclamations/proc2010/.
Individuals are permitted to nominate themselves.
Completed forms should be returned electronically to the Texas Education Agency, Division of Instructional Materials and Educational Technology, at review.adoption@tea.state.tx.us, no later than December 12, 2008 . Appointments to the state review panel will be announced in March 2009.
