Add news items here with add item -> news item. When you are done click on contents tab and change the state to published so that it will show up in the main news item folder for all users.

Add events here with add item -> event. Enter in your information and make sure that they 'HEC Event' keyword is selected (Its the only one) so that it will show up as an HEC sanctioned event. When you are done click on contents tab and change the state to published so that it will show up in the main news item folder for all users.
